Owner Surrender
Thank you for looking to Yorkie Rescue of America for assistance in finding a forever home for your Yorkie. Many people surrender their pets to shelters with the hope their pet will find a new home, however once the owner relinquishes ownership to the shelter, the Yorkie is put at risk in the system.
If you need to surrender your pet, please fill out the owner surrender form and a volunteer will contact you. The form should be filled out in its entirety to the best of your ability so we understand more about your Yorkie and any special needs on how best to place them in our network.
Once Yorkie Rescue of America takes custody of your Yorkie, we begin the process of getting the Yorkie ready for a new home. That involves a veterinary exam, a fecal, lab work, spay or neuter, microchip and many Yorkies need dentals. We do not adopt out our Yorkies without a complete medical assessment so we can be confident the dog is healthy as can be when it enters its new home. Additional medical may be required based on the recommendations of the treating veterinarian. Yorkie Rescue of America is a 501 (c) 3 and we are only able to provide these services through donations. We encourage all owners who surrender their Yorkies to make a donation to subsidize the costs described above.
